11.11 Singles Day

So, what is ‘Singles Day’? Me, not knowing what it is, jumped to ask Mr Google about it. Turns out, Singles Day is a popular holiday amidst young Chinese to celebrate their status of being ‘single’.

I then started to think, “Why celebrate Singles Day? What is its significance?” I let my train of thought run freely until I reached an epiphany: what if celebrating Singles Day means paying tribute and acknowledging the liberation of the self?

At X NIHILO we don’t necessarily see celebrating Singles Day as something to do with your relationship status. Singles Day signifies the freedom to show strength and empowerment – not only to the outside world – but most importantly to ourselves.

It is remarkable how far acknowledging yourself can bring you. It is of the utmost importance that you know your identity and believe that you can make a difference, with the ability to take care of yourself physically and mentally.
