Why we do what we do?
When we first started X NIHILO, we wanted our brand to represent us. What we think, what we feel, and what we care about. Our tangible offering is our bag and the service that comes with it. But more than that, we want X NIHILO to have a voice – its own personality and distinctive values that permeate through what we do.
It is a commonplace observation that businesses exist to make money, and the observation is usually allowed to go unchallenged. It is, however, a very limited statement about the purposes of business. We believe being good is good business.
Our vision for X NIHILO stretch beyond bottom-line profit, and more than personal gain, we aim to inspire. We aim to empower women. Our communication and marketing messages are loud and clear. We are trying to empower women through our design, and giving back by supporting women most in need, as well as creating a community of strong women that supports each other. We believe by looking at the greater picture, our women will be able to relate themselves to the brand more than if we continuously focus on our bottom line.
X NIHILO believes women are at their best when supporting one another. Strong women build a strong community, and it is important to us that we build a community of supportive women that would lend a hand for their sister in need.
So starting with ourselves, we are currently holding a charity auction in support of the UN Women Australia national committee. Our co-founder Jenny Hsieh had created five hand-painted, collector’s edition pieces to raise money for the United Nations’ gender equality movement.
Why UN Women?
UN Women is the global champion for gender equality, working to develop and uphold standards and create an environment in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential. They are an organization capable to work on both grass root and policy level, making sure our contribution is amplified and allocated to the best channel to achieve maximum impact. You can support the cause by bidding, donating, and share the words about our charity auction.
